Mission Statement

To promote involvement of African American Human Resource Professionals in the area of professional development, career management and human resource business trends.

What is The NAAAHR?

The National Association of African Americans in Human Resources is a national organization concerned with improving the professional development of African American Human Resource professionals, consultants and students. NAAAHR is dedicated to providing a forum where African Americans can share, gain information and provide leadership on issues affecting their individual careers and the quality of work life for other African Americans.

The focus of the organization is to serve as a network, resource and forum for African American Human Resource professionals. The Dallas Chapter of NAAAHR was chartered in the third quarter of 2001. The chapter is comprised of human resource professionals and consultants.

The Dallas Chapter is positioning itself to become the premier local human resource forum for African Americans. The chapter strives to help members move progressively through the course of their careers with enhanced knowledge and inspired confidence.

Purpose 

• Provide professional development which informs and advances the professional
  development of African American Human Resource practitioners

• Serve as a resource for African Americans in developing a career in Human Resources 

• Provide a platform for educating and discussing human resource business trends

• Provide member services that support member needs such as job listing distribution, community outreach, newsletter, and networking opportunities

Monthly Luncheon

The NAAAHR's goal is to improve the professional development of African American Human Resource professionals, consultants and students by providing a forum to share information, and provide leadership on issues affecting careers and the quality of worklife. NAAAHR Speaking Opportunities

Speakers are needed for various chapter events including:

-          Monthly Luncheon Meetings

-          Breakfast Meetings

-          Workshops

-          Special Events

 

PRESENTER SELECTION GUIDELINES

 

Since NAAAHR is a not-for-profit organization, we are unable to pay fees or expenses for selected presenters.  Speaking at one of our chapter events will provide you with visibility and help you establish solid professional contacts within the HR community.

 

Presentation proposals are reviewed and selected by the Board of Directors based upon the following criteria:

-          Overall quality of content

-          Clearly defined objectives

-          Relevance to the HR profession

-          Presenter’s speaking abilities

 

Selected presenters will be contacted by the VP of Plans and Programs to confirm the date and time of the presentation.  NAAAHR will maintain proposal information for presenters who are not initially selected, for potential future consideration.

 

Presenters are tasked with providing their own handouts/materials. 

 

Any material that presenters would like to use as handouts must be pre-approved bye the VP of Plans and Programs well in advance of the scheduled presentation.

MARKETING POLICY

 

The intent of NAAAHR sponsored presentations and workshops is to further member knowledge of the human resources profession and learn relevant job related techniques.  In the best interest of our members, presenters are requested to follow these guidelines:

 

-      Presenters are prohibited from using the presentation opportunity to directly promote a speaker’s product, service or promote monetary self-interest.  Soliciting contact information from our members should not occur unless initiated by member.

-      Audio or visual taping is expressly prohibited without prior approval from the VP of Plans and Programs (with a three week lead time).

-      Price lists or the discussion of professional fees should not be disseminated to members during the presentation.

-      Presenters should not make overt statements or disparaging remarks or humorous anecdotes.
